Thank-offering

The thank-offering is yielded yearly on Swiss Thanksgiving Day; in other countries on Harvest Festival Day, through the offertory box or through direct payment. This historical tradition dates back to the 8th September 1796 when Switzerland celebrated Thanksgiving day for the first time.

The first appeal in the New-Apostolic Church took place in 1988 when Chief Apostle Richard Fehr asked the church members for a special offering on Thanksgiving.

The Chief Apostle wrote then:

" Indeed our thank is obedience as succesion, thank-offering, our lips overflowing from our hearts and our certain thank-offering a sign of charity".

The New-Apostolic Church celebrates Thanksgiving not out of habit but as a sign of gratitude. The funds received from the thank-offering are used for special projects (relief projects, constructions, music u.s.w.)
