District Apostle Markus Fehlbaum in Bulgaria
23.10.2009 / Bulgarien
The District Apostle visited Bulgaria from the 23rd to the 25th of October in order to support the development of the New Apostolic Church in Bulgaria and to give important impulses for the future work in this country
In order to achieve this goal the District Apostle was accompanied by Apostle Kainz and Bishop Müller from Austria together with all brethren operating from abroad in Bulgaria.
Upon arrival at the airport in Sofia, the group went on to Stara Zagora. On the following day In this centrally located city, a working meeting was held with all the Ministers of Bulgaria, the manager of the secretariat and two young brothers in faith who want to help in the future to enhance the work in Bulgaria. The District Apostle laid special emphasis on the importance of actually fulfilling ones commission. The work should be forward-looking and motivated by mutual respect, appreciation and gratitude. Following this, the District Apostle held a Divine Service for present.
Continuing on to Sofia, he made a Stop in Krichim, an area near Plovdiv. Here, contact to a group of believing and seeking people had been made in the previous weeks which came out of the Roma (Gypsy) community. A man from this ethnic group had recently been in Zurich and had taken up contact with us during this time. Only a few days later he met the District Apostle in Barcelona, in a Divine Service, even though he did not know of his stay. After some preliminary talks we will now hold information and evangelising Services twice per month in Krichim. Furthermore, a humanitarian project will be evaluated for the area in which the Roma live
On Sunday, then, the service took place in our Church in Sofia and a delegation from Krichim also attended. The District Apostle had invited them the previous day. As the Apostle prepared for the celebration of Holy Communion for the Departed, he also mentioned the oldest sister of the congregation, which at the age of 103 had just recently entered into eternity. To conclude the service the District Apostle ordained a young brother, who had in the previous days attended the working meetings, into the Deacon ministry. He will now especially care for the few and scattered youth within the countryThe visit of the District Apostle concluded with fellowship and various discussions about future projects which are to promote the missionary work in Bulgaria.
