Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo celebrate Mass in the most famous and frequently visited Church in Rome with musical accompaniment courtesy of the Concert Choir of South Hessen – an event of significance for Catholic and New Apostolic Christians alike
A Holy Mass, together with the celebration of the Eucharist, took place on the morning of the 12th July in the Papal Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura in Rome. The chief celebrant was Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo, president of the Governatorato della Città del Vaticano. He was accompanied by his general secretary, Bishop Renato Boccardo. The musical accompaniment to the Mass was unusual and a first; the Concert Choir South Hessen from the New Apostolic Church sang its way into the hearts of the many present.
At the end of the Mass Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo and Bishop Renato Boccardo greeted the official delegation from the New Apostolic Church. This was comprised of Bishop Jürg Zbinden, Evangelist Andreas Grossglauser as well as the Rector of our congregation in Rome, Evangelist Stefano Cacciatore. The Cardinal directed his thanks and joy to the singers for their beautiful accompaniment to the Mass
Bishop Jürg Zbinden, accompanied by District Elder Daniele Rossi, held the Sunday morning Service in our church in Rome, serving with the word from Romans 8.31 “What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” During the Divine Service a couple received their Silver Wedding blessing. The Concert Choir of South Hessen provide the musical accompaniment, strengthened by the singers of the congregation.
