The Chief Apostle in Lucerne

07.02.2010 / Luzern

On the 7th February 2010 Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber held a Divine Service in the New Apostolic church in Lucerne which was broadcast to the entire working area of District Apostle Markus Fehlbaum

To start the Service the Chief Apostle pointed to the transfiguration of Jesus as it is portrayed in Matthew 17. He placed particular emphasis on the word “transfiguration” which also means “transformation”. Jesus appeared in a new light to the three that accompanied him. That is also how it should be in a Divine Service. We should be able to see everything in a new light. This wish should not only relate to the brethren and the ministers but also to the future, which is not gloomy but should rather be seen as full of joyful hope.

Development in the life of faith

The basis for the Service was the Bible word from Galatians 3.3: “…..Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” To this, the Chief Apostle said “When something has been started in the Spirit, there should also be a corresponding development. Then it should not be the case that there is a regression into old habits. Rather, there should be developments in the Spirit”

We should ask ourselves today, so said the Chief Apostle, how far a positive development in the Spirit has come about. Important developments as in the following areas

-          Our trust in the Godly leadership

-          In the joy in the Lord and to his work

-          In the willingness to serve God

-          In our love to our neighbour

The Divine Service was framed by a choir, a special musical arrangement performed by the organ and cello as well as a children’s choir which enthused the Chief Apostle and all present with their singing.
